How To Customize the Essential Industries Template to Fit Your Region

Due to COVID-19, industries have been forced to shut down across the country, greatly influencing a nationwide economic downturn. However, there are still several industries considered “essential” to the economy that have remained open, so we’ve created a way for you to view the impact of various essential industries in your region. 

The Essential Industries template is based on the guidelines set out by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Read more here. 

To view the Essential Industries template for your region:

1. Select Groups from the menu at the top of the homepage. 
2. Select Industry Groups from the dropdown menu. Then select Template Groups. 
3. Scroll through the template groups list and select Essential Industries (COVID-19) by 6-digit or 3-digit NAICS. In the video below, we use 6-digit industries. 
4. From here, you have two options: 
   • If you want to view only a small number of industries, you can scroll through the list and check the boxes next to the industries of your choice, OR
   • If you want to view a large number of industries, you can check the box at the top of the list to select all industries, and modify the list as needed once inside a report (shown in the video below). 
5. Once you’ve selected the industries you’d like to see, click the Jump To button at the top and choose a report. Here we use the Industry Table. 
6. Inside the report, you can add or remove industries as needed by clicking the boxes on the left side of the table. Then click +Create Group. This will allow you to save your customized industry list and use it in other reports if you’d like.
