With the merger of Emsi and Burning Glass, we are now in the position to provide our customers with the best-in-class postings data. Rather than relying on a 3rd party we will have full control of the data sources. These sources are identified, curated, and added to the system by Emsi Burning Glass staff with consideration and understanding of customer needs. This allows us to be more responsive to customers changing needs, meaning we can now add new sources or remove poorly performing sources responsively.
Because this dataset is developed and managed in-house, we’re able to better identify irregularities, such as when employers post in every city within a state. As a result, the counts track more closely with external data sources (e.g. JOLTS). Please see our FAQ on Benchmarking.
Customers may notice a shift in the top sources listed within the product. Emsi Burning Glass 30,000 sources throughout the US. We strive to have a mix of broad job boards, as well as a significant proportion of postings coming directly from employer sites. All sources are carefully validated by the data collection team. The team analyses each source to check its data cleanliness to ensure we avoid job aggregators and any postings that are invalid. We proactively monitor big data collection and cleanse data regularly if there is an issue with the source. Please see our FAQ’s on Aggregation and Deduplication.
